Where to start

What brings you to the dentist?

If you are looking for a dentist in Skopje, it is usually for a specific reason: an aching tooth or wisdom tooth, a filling that has fallen out, bleeding gums or a smile you would like to change.

Choose the option that fits you best and we will show you where to start.

‘Save the tooth’

Saving your natural tooth comes first

‘Save the tooth’ has been the practice’s motto since it opened in 2015. The idea is simple: before anyone mentions extraction, we check whether and how your natural tooth can be kept.

When a tooth can be repaired and has a realistic chance of lasting, it is usually better to keep it. The gap left by an extraction is often filled with a bridge, implant or denture, so that you can chew comfortably and the neighbouring teeth do not drift. That means more visits and extra cost. So, where possible, we first suggest a white filling, root canal treatment or a crown.

Of course, not every tooth can or should be saved. If the damage is too great or the chances of success are low, we will tell you openly, and together we will choose the option that suits you. Read more about when root canal treatment is better than extraction.

  • Diagnosis first, then a plan. We do not start treatment until we know what is causing the problem.
  • Only the treatment you need. If an old filling can be repaired, it does not always have to be replaced entirely.
  • All your options, clearly explained. For each one, we explain the benefits, the risks and what could happen if you wait.
  • You decide. No pressure, and enough time to think it over.

About the practice

Treatments

Treatments: from fillings to cosmetic dentistry

White fillings, root canal treatment, crowns (often called caps), composite veneers and teeth whitening: choose the area that interests you.

Why us

What you can expect from the practice

No grand claims: just how we work, and what you can check for yourself.

Your natural tooth comes first

Extraction is not our first suggestion. Even a tooth that has already had root canal treatment can sometimes be saved by treating the canals again (retreatment).

Every step explained

Before any procedure, we tell you what we see, what your options are and what happens next. Questions are welcome before and after treatment.

We tell you which material we use

For white fillings and composite veneers, we use 3M ESPE Filtek Z550, a nano-hybrid composite.

Contract with the Health Insurance Fund (FZO)

The practice has a contract with FZO for primary dental care. If you are insured with the Fund, you can register with Dr Kiril Milanovski as your chosen dentist (izbran stomatolog).

Your first visit

Your first appointment, step by step

If it has been a long time since you last saw a dentist, or the very thought of a check-up makes you anxious, that is completely understandable. Your first visit is mainly a conversation and an examination.

  1. Booking. Phone us or send a request using the booking form. Please leave health details out of your request; we will discuss them at the practice.
  2. A conversation. You tell us what is bothering you, what medicines you take and whether you have any medical conditions or allergies. If you feel nervous, tell us at the start and we will agree a signal you can use to ask for a break.
  3. Examination. We check your teeth, gums and existing fillings. If an X-ray is needed, we will explain why.
  4. Plan and decision. We explain your options and what affects the cost. You receive a written plan before treatment begins, and the decision is yours.

To find out what to bring and how to prepare, see Your first visit.

Patients from abroad

Back in Skopje for the holidays, or just visiting?

If you live abroad, it is worth planning treatment before you travel. A check-up, a scale and polish (teeth cleaning) or a single filling can usually be completed in one visit. Root canal treatment usually takes one or two visits, sometimes more. A crown most often needs two visits, two to three weeks apart, to allow time for it to be made in a dental laboratory.

Call or email us in good time to arrange your appointments. Please bear in mind that the practice closes for annual leave for part of the summer; we announce the dates on Facebook and Instagram.

FAQs

Before you book: answers to common questions

Short answers about choosing a dentist, opening hours, booking, prices and the Fund.

How do I choose a good dentist in Skopje?

A good dentist first explains what they see, and only then suggests treatment. Ask whether you will get a written plan, what the options, risks and alternatives are, and what would happen if you waited. Reviews can help, but your own impression after the first conversation matters too.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 11:00–19:00, and closed at weekends. We see patients by appointment. We announce annual leave on Facebook and Instagram, with details of which dentist to contact if your problem cannot wait.

Can I book an appointment online?

Yes. Send a request through the Book an appointment page and we will contact you to arrange a time. Your request becomes an appointment only once we confirm it. If you have toothache, it is better to phone: +389 78 218 457 or +389 77 851 086.

Where can I find your dental price list?

Our Prices page explains what affects the cost. The exact price depends on the condition of the tooth, the number of visits and the materials, so you receive it in a written plan after the examination, before treatment starts.

Can I choose Dr Kiril Milanovski as my dentist through FZO?

Yes. The practice has a contract with FZO for primary dental care, so if you are insured in North Macedonia, you can register with Dr Kiril Milanovski as your chosen dentist. When you book, ask us which services the Fund covers and whether there is a co-payment. Services it does not cover are paid for privately, and we tell you the price in advance.

What should I do if I have toothache or a broken tooth?

Phone us during opening hours. If a slot is available, we will try to see you the same day. Until then, a painkiller that is safe for you, such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, may help; follow the instructions on the pack. Antibiotics alone do not treat the cause, so take them only if a doctor or dentist prescribes them.

If any swelling spreads towards your eye or neck, if you have swelling and a high temperature, or if you find it hard to breathe, speak or swallow, call an ambulance on 194 or the European emergency number 112 straight away, or go to hospital.
