Dental treatments in Skopje

A short guide to our dental treatments, from check-ups and a scale and polish (teeth cleaning) to fillings, root canal treatment, crowns and veneers. Every treatment plan starts with an examination, and saving your natural tooth comes first whenever possible.

‘Save the tooth’

We try to save your natural tooth first

Dr. Milanovski is a general dental practice in the Aerodrom district of Skopje. If you are looking for dental treatments in Skopje, this is how we work: every treatment begins with a conversation and an examination.

Our motto is ‘Save the tooth’. If a tooth can be kept with a filling, root canal treatment or a crown, that is the first option we consider.

If that is not possible, or the chances of success are low, we discuss the other options with you openly, including tooth extraction. Read more in our article Save the tooth.

Not sure which treatment you need? Start with an examination

You do not have to know in advance which treatment is right for you. Just tell us what is bothering you: pain, a filling that has fallen out, or the colour of your teeth.

  1. Book an appointment. Phone us or send an appointment request.
  2. Examination and discussion. We examine your teeth and gums and ask about your general health, any medicines you take and what you would like from treatment.
  3. Your options and a written plan. We explain the possible treatments, including their benefits, risks, number of visits and cost. If there is a lot to do, the work can be split into stages.
  4. The decision is yours. Ask us anything, and take your time to think it over.

The cost depends on the condition of your teeth, how many teeth need treatment and the materials used, so we give you the price after the examination, in your written plan. For more information, see our prices page.

If you feel anxious about visiting the dentist, please tell us at the start. Read more about your first visit.

The practice has a contract with the Health Insurance Fund (FZO) for primary dental care. If you are insured with the Fund, you can register with Dr Kiril Milanovski as your chosen dentist (izbran stomatolog).

Frequently asked questions about our dental services

Which dental services do you offer?

We offer check-ups, white (composite) fillings and replacement of old fillings, root canal treatment (including retreatment of a previously treated tooth), posts and crowns, composite veneers and teeth whitening.

What is the difference between a filling, a veneer and a crown?

It comes down to how much of the tooth is repaired or covered.

A filling repairs part of a tooth after decay or a small chip, usually in a single visit.

A veneer is a thin layer of composite or porcelain that covers only the front of the tooth. It changes the colour and shape of the tooth, and usually means trimming a thin layer of enamel first.

A crown, often called a cap, covers the whole visible part of a badly damaged or weakened tooth, for example after root canal treatment. More of the tooth has to be trimmed for a crown than for a veneer. For a fuller comparison, see our article on veneers, composite bonding and crowns.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is about how your teeth look: their colour, shape and size. It includes teeth whitening, composite bonding (reshaping teeth with tooth-coloured composite) and veneers.

Any tooth decay or gum inflammation is treated before cosmetic work begins. Whitening lightens only natural teeth; it does not change the colour of fillings, veneers or crowns. Results vary from person to person, and trimming a tooth for a veneer cannot be undone.
