On this page
This page covers dental prices in Skopje at Dr. Milanovski, our practice in the Aerodrom district, and what affects them. ‘How much will it cost?’ is a completely normal question. Cost is also why many people put off seeing a dentist, so we want you to know what to expect in advance.
How pricing works: examination first, then a plan
Everyone’s teeth are different. A small cavity and a tooth with half of it broken off need very different work, so the price differs too. That is why we set the price only after examining your teeth.
- Examination and a conversation. We examine your teeth and gums, and ask what is bothering you and what you would like to change. If you need an X-ray, we will explain why.
- Options, not just one answer. We explain the possible solutions, including conservative (tooth-sparing) ones, with their benefits and limitations. The practice’s motto is ‘Save the tooth’, so we first check whether your tooth can be kept.
- A written plan with the price. Before we start, you receive a plan with the proposed treatments, their order, the approximate number of visits and the price.
- The decision is yours. Ask anything you like and take your time to think it over. More extensive treatment can be done in stages: first whatever hurts or is getting worse quickly, then the rest.
When you book, please ask what the examination itself costs and whether the Health Insurance Fund (FZO) covers it for you.

What affects the cost of your treatment?
When you look up dentist prices in Skopje or elsewhere in North Macedonia, you are probably hoping for a single figure. In practice, the price depends on:
- How many teeth need treatment, and how damaged they are.
- The type of treatment. A small filling, root canal treatment and a crown (sometimes called a cap) need different amounts of time, work and material.
- The material. For example, composite for white fillings and composite veneers, or metal-ceramic (porcelain fused to metal) for crowns.
- Laboratory work. Crowns, bridges and dentures are usually made in a dental laboratory.
- Additional procedures: X-rays, local anaesthetic, removing an old filling, building up the tooth or placing a post.
- How complex the case is. Curved canals, or retreating a canal that has been treated before, take more time.
- What needs treating first. Decay and gum problems are treated before any cosmetic work.
The cost of teeth whitening also depends on the method and on whether you need a scale and polish (teeth cleaning) first. Existing fillings and crowns do not change colour. If they are visible, it is sometimes worth replacing them afterwards, at extra cost.
Sometimes it only becomes clear during treatment that decay goes deeper than it looked – for example, that the tooth also needs root canal treatment. The plan and the price then change. It is worth asking in advance how the price would change in that case.

Questions to ask before you start
A good treatment plan should be clear to you, not just to your dentist. You are welcome to ask:
- What is included in the price: X-rays, anaesthetic, temporary fillings or crowns, follow-up visits?
- How many visits will I need, and how long will the whole treatment take?
- What other options are there, and how much do they cost?
- What happens if it turns out I need further treatment?
- How should I look after my teeth afterwards so the result lasts longer?
Patients insured with the Fund
The practice has a contract with FZO for primary dental care. If you are insured with the Fund, you can register with Dr Kiril Milanovski as your chosen dentist (izbran stomatolog).
FZO rules determine which services the Fund covers and whether you pay a co-payment (a share of the cost you pay yourself). As a rule, services the Fund does not cover are paid for privately, as is treatment for patients who have no active health insurance in North Macedonia or whose chosen dentist is at another practice.
Not sure what applies to you? Ask us when you book. General information on the rights of insured people is also on the FZO website.
How you can pay
Please ask about payment methods when you book or at your examination, before treatment starts.
If you live abroad and would like treatment while you are in Skopje, our International patients page has practical information.
The Dental Chamber’s minimum prices
In North Macedonia, the Dental Chamber of Macedonia sets a list of minimum (reference) prices for private dental services. For listed services, private practices may not charge less than the minimum; above it, each practice sets its own price. The list does not apply to services paid for by the Fund.
We keep to the Chamber’s minimum prices. The Chamber’s clarification on the minimum price list (in Macedonian) explains which services are listed and how the list applies.
Frequently asked questions about prices
How much is a filling?
It depends on the size of the cavity, how many surfaces of the tooth are affected, whether it is a front or back tooth and whether an old filling has to be removed first. The practice places white (composite) fillings, and you will know the price for each tooth after your examination. Read more: White fillings and composite bonding and Replacing old fillings.
How much does a scale and polish (teeth cleaning) cost?
It depends on how much tartar and plaque have built up and on the health of your gums. If your gums bleed or there are deeper pockets around the teeth, longer treatment over several visits is sometimes needed. If Dr Kiril Milanovski is your chosen dentist under FZO, ask whether the Fund covers the cleaning. Read more: Dental check-up and professional teeth cleaning and Gum disease treatment.
How much do crowns, bridges or braces cost?
These are different treatments. Crowns (caps) and bridges are cemented onto the teeth and are not taken out; fixed braces are used to straighten teeth. For a crown or a bridge, the price depends on the material, how many teeth are involved and whether any of them need treatment first. Read more: Dental crowns and bridges.
If your teeth are crooked, we may recommend orthodontic treatment after the examination and refer you to an orthodontist.
How much do dental implants cost in North Macedonia?
The cost depends on how many implants you need, whether there is enough bone or it must be built up first (a bone graft), the type of implant and the crown that goes on top. That is why a realistic estimate is only possible after an examination and X-rays. If you are missing a tooth, we will discuss the options at the examination, including a bridge or a denture, with their benefits and limitations.
Can I pay in instalments?
Please ask us before treatment starts, when you book or at your examination. More extensive treatment can often be planned in stages, which also spreads the cost over a longer period.
Does the Fund cover crowns, bridges or other treatment?
The practice has a contract with FZO for primary dental care. What the Fund covers, and the size of any co-payment, depend on FZO rules and on whether Dr Kiril Milanovski is your chosen dentist. Ask us before treatment and we will tell you what applies in your case.
